It Needs More Work

Hey friends,

The last several weeks have been pretty crazy. I had surgery that knocked me a little loopy. Heck, Loviatar no. 13 was written in a Percocet haze. A new school year has begun and with it comes lots of stress, hard work and running around like a headless chicken.

Loviatar no. 13 should be going out in the mail this week, but I am not happy with the issue. Like I said, it was not written with the clearest head and I feel it needs more work. For example, I want to add conversion notes so that you can port the Lords of Creation NPCs into Basic D&D/Mutant Future. I would also like Jay Penn to work his magic. The issue was not going to have any interior illustrations and that felt...wrong.

Therefore, there will not be an August issue of Loviatar. It depresses me to do so, but I think it's best. My attention and energy for the zine has dipped a bit, so I think that a month off can only bring good renewed vitality and interest. Look for a tentative mailing date of Monday, September 17.

Talk to you soon!

  1. Good Grief Christian. Like I tell the people at the restaurants, I'd rather wait for something and have it done right than get something in a hurry and not like it. Not that I would like it less, but I always appreciate Jay's work. And who knows, a Percocet haze written zine might be pretty cool.

  2. Christian, take all the time you need, buddy! We'll be here when the issue is ready. This is supposed to be a labor of love, and if you're not feeling it yet, don't sweat it!

  4. Percocet! I knew there had to be an explanation behind the Lords of Creation thing! ;P

Mental R&R is good. I'm sure Issue 13 will thank you for it.

  7. Hey Christian,

Most zines are lucky to see 2 or 3 issues ever, so you're way ahead of the game! Being late one issue, to make it better no less, is nothing to feel bad about.

If you find yourself wanting any assistance editing/proofing, just let me know. I'm happy to help.

  8. Dude: Had no idea you were under. Sorry to add to your workload, but realized my sub has ended, so I've added to your workload and ordered the issues I missed. No rest for the wicked.
