Loviatar no. 8 Progress Report; And So It Begins

Hex 004, powered by Moldvay-era D&D, will be featured in Loviatar no. 8. This hex continues many of the themes and elements of the previous hexes. There will be a slightly larger underground area of PCs to explore, which is something a few readers have requested. The hex also includes larcenous gnomes, a murderous constable, an otyugh auction, an owlery in a dead treant and a giant, talking snake. As usual, the hex is jammed.

The issue will also include an article that presents a variety of linkboys, porters, wagoneers and fighting men. Every sandbox explorer could use a few hirelings and Loviatar no. 7 will help fill that need.

Looking ahead, Loviatar no. 12 will most likely be a 48 page, "double issue" that presents the Freecity of Haldane. The city has been mentioned in the hex crawl, so perhaps it might be nice to have the city in print. After roaming the sandbox, intrepid explorers can repair to the city for healing, drinking and wenching.

  1. Got no.7 the other day. Really loving the Hex series...and doing a double issue detailing the Freecity would be brilliant.

  2. Wait, is this a return to the city that was in Iridium 50 or so?

    1. HI Herb,

Yes, the city was first presented in Iridia 80-something. I think...

It was just 20 pages at the time, but since then it's swelled to 48 pages. Last summer I sent it out for editing, but there's still some work to be done. I'd like to have the city available again, since it would tie in nicely with the hex crawl. I think that when Jay gets his hands on it he will produce some amazing illustrations!

  3. Number 7 was excellent and I eagerly wait for number 12. Having been lucky enough to snag the entire massive Iridia pdf I am familiar with the Freecity...cannot wait to visit again!
